Singer Park Tunnel
I went with some people to a tunnel under Singer Park, took a few pictures.
The ‘New’ Sunday Driver Rock
Someone messaged me on Flickr to tell me that Sunday Driver Rock had returned. I drove out to the rock, and initially thought that it had never been painted over. Still, I took a picture of it, and upon comparison with the picture from 2003, it is definitely slightly different. Also, if you look on the bottom edge of the paint in the new picture, you can see that there must have been brown paint below it. Much like “Chicken Farmer” rock, it seems that ‘Sunday Driver’ isn’t going to disappear anytime soon, regardless of what vandals do to it.
Another try at HDR
I was walking out of the library a few days ago, and saw that the sun was just about to go down, and that it might be a good oppurtunity to try my hand at HDR again. Not the most exciting composition, but I think I managed to capture a wider range of values.
High Dynamic Range
I had a few free minutes the other night, so I decided to try my hand at making a ‘high dynamic range’ or HDR image. Basically, an HDR image is a photo that is composed of multiple shots take from the exact same perspective, but at varying exposure levels. Digital cameras usually exhibit relatively low dynamic range (especially when compared to film) by combining these bracketed exposures, you have access to a greater range of tones and detail, especially in the shadows and highlights. Here is a link to the tutorial I used. Here is the picture I took, which didn’t come out particularly well. I still don’t really have the hang of HDR, especially the post processing aspect of it, but that will (hopefully) be remedied over time.
I also took a few other pictures while in Manchester that night.

A Goose Makes a Statement
I was walking at a pond near my house one day a few years ago when I encountered this Goose. I stared at it for a few minutes, and it didnt move. For whatever reason, I decided to take a movie of it with my camera. Well, I turned it on at just the right moment.
The DEFINITIVE Aunt Mary Picture
This is a really old picture, but I came across it today and just started laughing. If you know my Aunt Mary at all, I think you will agree that this perfectly personifies what she is like. Everything, from the limpness of the hose, to the somewhat demeaning glare on her face is just perfect. I posted this for my brother and sister, but if anyone else gets a kick out of it, then so be it .
Edit: It has come to my attention that my brother Will actually took this picture.
Flickr
I started a Flickr account, which you can access by clicking here. I’m going to try to integrate my Flickr account with this site, but im not exactly sure how thats going to work yet.
UPDATE: I’ve added a widget on the right that will display my 5 most recently updated photos. I can also now add any photo ive uploaded to Flickr to a post with one or two clicks. I was going to host everything here, but I really like all the features Flickr has, and to implement them all here would be almost impossible. Also, i’m hoping that getting a FLickr account will motivate me to start doing more photography stuff, as I haven’t paid it much attention lately.
I should also note that on the right side of the page i’ve made a few changes. The ‘Pages’ section has been simplified. If everything is working alright, you should just see something that says ‘Manchester Theatres’. Clicking on this will bring you to the ‘Manchester Theatres’ page, and a list will expand out from underneath ‘Manchester Theatres’. This will allow me to add tiered pages to the site in the future, and it also makes everything look a little bit neater.
Here is an example of what a picture will look like when linked in a blog post;
