Someone messaged me on Flickr to tell me that Sunday Driver Rock had returned. I drove out to the rock, and initially thought that it had never been painted over. Still, I took a picture of it, and upon comparison with the picture from 2003, it is definitely slightly different. Also, if you look on the bottom edge of the paint in the new picture, you can see that there must have been brown paint below it. Much like “Chicken Farmer” rock, it seems that ‘Sunday Driver’ isn’t going to disappear anytime soon, regardless of what vandals do to it.
Who do you think made this? The commas have disappeared, so it seems it has indeed been redone as opposed to just faded. Hmmm. We could create a story to explain the mysterious appearance…
my wife and remember the rock from the middle sixties — it was very old then. we remember it as painted directly on the stone w/o the white background. also. i remember the rock to be much larger and rounder than the photo. it was back in the woods at the junction of two very primitive dirt (not gravel) roads. regards. mike
