The DEFINITIVE Aunt Mary Picture
This is a really old picture, but I came across it today and just started laughing. If you know my Aunt Mary at all, I think you will agree that this perfectly personifies what she is like. Everything, from the limpness of the hose, to the somewhat demeaning glare on her face is just perfect. I posted this for my brother and sister, but if anyone else gets a kick out of it, then so be it .
Edit: It has come to my attention that my brother Will actually took this picture.

That is a great photo. But I think that describing her look as ‘demeaning’ is to do her a disservice; she really is a complex person, in a way, because I believe she has certain feelings in spite of herself. There is a conflict that seems to exist inside her, which juxtaposes how she really feels about something with how she feels she *should* feel about it… Also, it’s important to note that while she does take care of her yard herself (even though she’s in her eighties), she (1) hates (or purports to, anyway) animals, and (2) cares a lot about what the neighbors think. I don’t think she does yard work for the joy of it.

I agree that demeaning may not have been the right word, I think I chose it because I imagined her looking at whoever was taking the picture. As for her ‘hatred’ of animals, does anyone know *why* this exists? I remember her refering to emma as “A Beast’.
